FAQ
An Independent Educational Consultant (IEC) provides personalized, one-on-one support that is tailored to each student’s strengths, interests, and goals. This personalized approach is often unavailable in high schools due to high student-to-counselor ratios.
Families today are flooded with information online from websites, forums, and AI tools. While these resources can be helpful, they often leave students and parents feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. An IEC brings both clarity and compassion, offering customized guidance, building strong relationships with students, and helping families communicate and work together more effectively. By providing expert support at every step, an IEC helps reduce stress and instill confidence throughout the college application process.
With a background in Computer Science and Engineering and experience in the tech industry, I bring a practical, informed approach to college and career planning. As a parent in the competitive Bay Area, I understand the pressure and challenges families face. I aim to alleviate that stress and create a positive, balanced high school experience, enabling a smooth college application process for both students and parents.

Students can begin working with me at any point in high school, depending on their needs. Early college planning allows students to thoughtfully explore their options, strategically plan coursework, and engage in meaningful extracurricular activities. This proactive approach reduces stress and prepares students for academic success.
While many students begin working with an IEC in the second semester of their junior or senior year, I encourage students to check in with a counselor at least once during their ninth or tenth grade to make sure they’re on the right path. Decisions made early in high school can have a significant impact on the college application process. Although it’s never too late to start, waiting until the twelfth grade can make the process feel rushed and overwhelming.
I strongly recommend that parents attend the introductory sessions with their students. Afterward, it is crucial to allow students to take the lead in their college exploration and application process. I will schedule parent meetings to provide updates and address any questions or concerns that may arise during the process, as necessary.
I cannot guarantee your student’s admission to their dream college. No ethical educational consultant can promise admission to a specific institution. However, I will guide you through every step of the process to create a competitive profile for selective schools and help you create a balanced college list that maximizes your student’s chances of acceptance.
I do not write essays or complete applications for students, as this would be unethical. My role is to help them brainstorm authentic essay topics that reflect their experiences, personalities, and goals, and to provide constructive feedback on their drafts.
Students are responsible for completing their applications, while I support them in presenting themselves effectively, highlighting their strengths, and managing the overall process and timelines with confidence.
